Title: DESIGN UART PORTS ON FPGA WITH HARDWARE DESCRIPTION LANGUAGE HDL VERILOG

Abstract: Today FPGA is widely used in researching and the practical applications. The objective of this thesis is design and implement UART port on FPGA, specifically on DE2 board of Altera. I want to develop communication for this kit to it can transfer data with other devices easier. Therefore, I have chosen RS232, a popular used UART communication in electronic devices and robotic system. But the problem is DE2 board has only one built-in RS232 port. In order to DE2 board have multiple RS232 port in a same time, I designed this UART communication on GPIO pins by hardware description language Verilog. In addition, my project includes communication with peripheral device such as keyboard through PS/2 port. I designed and ran my system successfully on DE2 kit. It can receives and transmits data to computer, robot, keyboard. But in the future, I need to supplement some useful features in my design.
